Comedian Raves About Maui Vacations
Carlos Mencia is a famous comedian best known for his comedy series "Mind of Mencia" and films like "The Heartbreak Kid." The comedian is a self-proclaimed workaholic who explains that he doesn't like taking time off for fear of getting into what he calls "vacation mode." There is one exception to his rule for Carlos: Maui.
As the comedian explains, he feels that Maui is the closest thing on earth to paradise. Carlos is currently shooting "Our Family Wedding" and is often busy with stand-up gigs, developing film ideas and planning new skits. He is from Honduras, but finds Maui to be his favorite place.
For anyone who has lived here or visited before, the term "Maui Time" means volumes. When you are on the island, everything slows down. The atmosphere is relaxing and so are schedules, even in the workplace. Carlos recognizes this, as it is the perfect, irresistible respite that he needs in his frantically busy life. He explains that usually he works wherever he is, but never while he's on Maui.
He also praises the versatile landscape, including the ability to go from volcano to beach to forest here. We couldn't agree more. Maui has many faces, but they have one thing in common: beauty.
Take a tip from Carlos. If you need peace and tranquility on a vacation away from a busy, high-pressure lifestyle, there really is no better place to vacation than Maui. Seeing as it's so far away from the continental U.S., it is common for Americans to forget that they are still in their own country. It's paradise without a passport!
