More Airline Seats to Hawaii for Holidays

Good news from the airline industry! Seats to Hawaii this winter are expected to go up 1.8 percent from the same period last year, according to the Hawaii Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism. They also said that 2.1 million seats are scheduled on nonstop flights to Hawaii for the next three months.
Flights from the U.S. Mainland should increase about 0.2 percent to 1.5 million. Seats from the West will drop 2.9 percent but seats from the East will rise 20 percent, according to state estimates.
We should see fewer seats from San Jose, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City and San Diego. On the other hand, Las Vegas seats should be up 14.5 percent, seats from Oakland should rise by 58.1 percent and Portland up 6.5 percent. Seats from Houston will rise a whopping 89 percent and international seats in general should rise by 5.9 percent.
As for Maui, specifically, there should be an overall increase of 1.8 percent to 368,820 seats. This is good news for those who depend on the tourism industry, and it's also good for the visitors themselves. More seats means more competitive prices, so a cheaper holiday vacation. The numbers aren't set in stone, since projections are based on the Official Airline Guide flight schedules as of November, this year, which are subject to change. Still, the estimates should be pretty close to the mark.
