Reopening of Maui Art Gallery in Lahaina
Maui is one of the great art capitals of the world. This may sound like an exaggeration considering that others include Paris and New York, but globally renowned artists have galleries on our beautiful island. Explore Lahaina and you'll find numerous exquisite art galleries, especially on Front Street. In fact, pick a location on Maui and you'll have a hard time not finding an art gallery there. Kaanapali, Wailea, Kihei, Kula, Paia, Makawao and Ulupalakua all have their own fair share.
Maui isn't just a place where art is sold, it's a place where art is created. Many artists wander to our shores in search of inspiration to create something incredible. Many find exactly what they were looking for, and many never leave thanks to the consistency they find in that inspiration. There is something special about Maui that is hard to define, despite its clarity of stunning natural beauty. For many, simply being on the island changes the way you feel entirely. This is certainly a factor in why Maui is so famous as a relaxing and romantic getaway.
After nearly a two-year break, the owners of Maui Art A La Carte are reopening their gallery in the Lahaina Cannery Mall. They opened initially in 1997 and were in business for eleven years before closing in 2008. What makes this gallery special is that the owner, Julie Taylor is also the artist. The gallery is not only where her art is sold, but it is also her studio. If you pop by for a visit on your Maui vacation, you'll find original oil paintings, fine art limited edition giclee prints and reproductions.
If you are not familiar with the Lahaina Cannery Mall, it's Maui's only enclosed shopping center and includes over 50 shops and restaurants on the north end of Lahaina town along Front Street and Honoapiilani Highway. If you will be staying in one of our Kaanapali Beach rental condos, we definitely recommend you tour Lahaina, which is Kaanapali's lively neighbor. You can indulge in exciting night life, fine dining, family dining, shopping at a wide array of boutiques and souvenir stores, or catch a charter from the Lahaina harbor and go fishing, whale watching, snorkeling or enjoy any number of fun marine activities.
