Fourth of July Lahaina Concert and Fireworks

If you haven't quite decided what you want to do on the Fourth of July and you're a West Maui enthusiast, you might want to consider spending the evening in Lahaina.
Why Lahaina? Anyone familiar with Maui knows that there's always a lot of energy and enthusiasm there on the holidays. The Fourth of July is almost up there with Halloween as far as celebratory holiday fun and excitement.
This year, the 2010 Maui Invitational Music Festival is going to spice things up before Lahaina's Fourth of July fireworks with a concert on the library lawn. The Maui Community Band will be performing holiday favorites and an original composition by composer Carl Strommen from New York. It's called "Fanfare for Festival" and was commissioned especially for this Maui Invitational Music Festival.
The show features an opening by Latitude 21 with David Chou, Bob Harrison, Sal Godinez and Mike Buono for jazz with some Latin spice. Sheryl Renee will also perform vocals.
Haven't heard of the Maui Invitational Music Festival? It's a nonprofit presented by the Arts Education for Children Group (AECG) and it is supported by both the Hawaii Tourism Authority and the County of Maui Office of Economic Development.
As for the fireworks, Lahaina's shows are very popular, not just because of the extravagance of the fireworks themselves, but because of the unparalleled beauty of Front Street thanks to its location right along the water. Watching the brilliant show over the stunning Pacific Ocean is a memorable experience, and it's quite common for people to paddle out on their surfboards or watch from nearby boats.
