Maui's Heritage Sites of Hawaii
The Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA) just launched a program called Heritage Sites of Hawaii to help visitors recognize and learn about these places of interest.
If you've made a visit to Maui before, or one of the other Hawaiian islands, you may have noticed our old roadside "warrior" markers here and there. These signs have been around for decades, but now they will be replaced by a red, yellow and brown warrior image that will read "Heritage Site of Hawaii."
On a more exciting note, visitors can download guides to all the sites featuring this marker. In fact, the guides will be available not only in English, but also in Japanese, Chinese and Korean.
There will be twenty markers throughout the state, two of which will be located on Maui. These are the Iao Valley State Monument and Haleakala National Park.
If you would like to check out the information for these sites, check out www.gohawaii.com. There you'll find all twenty of the state heritage sites organized by island.
Most of Hawaii's heritage sites have interpretive signs or tours to make information easily accessible for a convenient educational experience. Maui's history is rich and there is so much to learn. It's great to know that the HTA is taking steps to make a Maui trip more comprehensive.
As for your vacation rental accommodations, we recommend the Kaanapali Shores. We can also assist you with your Maui car rental! If you have any questions, please find our contact information at the bottom of the page. Thanks for reading this week! Aloha!
