By Kenneth Rothman

Are you interested in a rich Hawaiian cultural experience while you're on your trip to Maui? So many visitors are fascinated by the many charms of Hawaiian culture that it is their first reason for visiting. The cuisine, music, hula, crafts and lore have all been uniquely shaped by time, tradition, and especially when it comes to food, an interesting mix of influences from other cultures.
Luckily for you, Keali'i Reichel, a world-renowned recording artist and award-winning kumu hula (hula teacher) will be performing on Friday, November 30th at the Maui Arts and Cultural Center (MACC). The drive from our oceanfront Kaanapali condos is just under an hour, but it is well worth the trip.
This performance will be one of Keali'i's solo sessions, where he will share chants, songs and stories with you, in the small, intimate setting of the McCoy Studio. He is fun, talented, charming, and known for his entertaining audience interactions. Most important of all, you will not find a more authentic Hawaiian cultural experience than you will with Keali'i. His art embodies contemporary and ancient Hawaiian culture, along with everything in between. He is much loved by the local community in Hawaii, and his is a common household name.
