Finding Affordable and Luxury Maui Accommodations
According to a report from Hospitality Advisors LLC and Smith Travel Research, average daily room rates were up 9.6 percent statewide during the week that ended on June 1st, compared to the same week last year. Maui's rates grew the least, for a 6.5 percent increase to $245 per night, but it's still the highest average among the four major islands. That's because Maui no ka oi, which means Maui is the best.
Maui tourism officials emphasize visitor spending more than high occupancy. It's simply a different strategy than we see on the other islands, yet Maui was the only island that saw an increased occupancy that week, with a gain of 3.9 percent to 69.1 percent. Of course weekly fluctuations shouldn't be taken as seriously as long-term changes, but it was still an interesting statistic.
If you love Maui like we do, you have plenty of options for accommodations whether you are looking for affordable Kaanapali vacation rentals or luxury beachfront condos and everything in between. Prices are even cheaper during the off season. September rates in particular tend to be good. Even if you are opting for luxurious accommodations, make sure you are getting the most for your dollar. Our beachfront Kaanapali condos come with fully equipped kitchens and all the amenities. If you love to cook, you'll have that option, which you wouldn't if you stayed in a hotel.
As for why Maui is worth visiting, compared to the other islands, well, Oahu is crowded and urban, while Kauai is remote with very few people. Maui is a happy middle ground, if you don't prefer one of those two extremes. The average daily room rate statewide was $208.29 per night as of the week ending on the 1st, so Maui's rates are comparable, and we're sure you will find that it's worth far more than the cost.
